MUMBAI AIRPORT (VABB/BOM)

At the Hotel Airport International, room 701 is the only room here with a view. It's on the top corner and is the only one with windows on both corners. The one facing the front of the hotel has views of departures climbing above a huge building (going to be a 5* hotel). The other window gives panoramic views over the domestic terminal, although you can't see the international terminal. This is not a problem as everything that goes in or out of there comes into view and is readable with bins. From this window you can read off all regs on all runways, but only a bit of the biz ramp is viewable. The windows are tinted but during the day no problem and you can read everywhere clearly.

The Orchid Hotel, also on Nehru Road, is a 4* hotel and more expensive than the Airport International above. This has the added bonus of a rooftop terrace, sun loungers etc and swimming pool. From here you can see everything and is good for photographs. You can use roof area (Health Club / Roof Terrace) as a day visitor. They charge you 530 Rupees per 3 hour stay. Obviously this area is free to residents if you're staying at the hotel.
