An exciting first for the site, Spotting in Europe is now available for those intrepid explorers out there. Featuring the 23 European countries that have already received the new updated look, this Spotting in Europe download has over 1100 locations within these 23 European countries, including over 600 in the UK. Click these links for further details.
Belgium has now been updated. The existing Brussels airport has been updated and is now very comprehensive, 25 airports and museums have been added and there's some preserved aircraft too. As always with these new updates, the Belgium page comes with a Download for Google Maps, Google Earth and your SatNav, full details can be found on the Belgium page and in the Spotting in Belgium Download Release Notes. These two new updates, Belgium and Italy, contain a small new feature regarding the preserved aircraft located towards the top of the page. This section will grow as more aircraft retired and put on display and/or more locations are found. For the time being, they are now hidden, but a left mouse click on the "+" button will reveal them instantly.

Part One of the UK airfields and airports update has been completed. 530 airports, airfields, museums and airbases are available to download to Google Maps, Google Earth and your SatNav, full details can be found on the Spotting in the UK Download Release Notes page, including the full list of 530 locations which I won't copy and paste here. If you are considering downloading this excellent file, before you do anything, add my email address krayzeekris@hotmail.com to your address book and your 'Safe Senders' list as an automatically generated email is sent to you with the download instructions and your email provider WILL mark it as spam or junk and block it unless you have added it. A few locations currently in their respective county pages don't appear because they are either closed or have one, two or no known residents and will be removed in due course - I have always maintained that I won't list strips with just one or two residents as there are too many to keep up with. A very small number of airfields in Scotland and Northern Ireland have estimated locations marked on the map as satellite coverage at the moment is poor. I must stress that the directions on my site are still correct and once the satellite images are updated I can move the map markers if necessary. This download file contains a marker for the location of the airfield and in the case of most airfields, an 'Entrance' marker is also present to help map readers and improve the accuracy on SatNavs.
As stated in the release notes pages, anyone purchasing this file now will automatically receive the next version of the UK file for free once I have released the next update. The next update will contain more markers on the current airfields with any other details I have, plus any extra information I will be adding to the UK part of the site.
A minor change on the homepage is the removal of the individual alphabetised pages (over 20 of them). I have replaced them with one "A to Z of UK Airfields" page - this will dramatically cut down the amount of time it takes for me to update the UK airfields and I will be working on this page to make it more user friendly with the inclusion of shortcuts up and down the page to each letter. If you want to jump down to a specific airfield, you can use your browser's search (CTRL+F) function. Everything on this page is exactly how it appears on the county pages. And Ireland has been moved to the 'Europe' page, because, well, it's in Europe!

Cyprus has now been updated. A much smaller update this time, but it includes information on the brand new terminal complex opened in November 2009 at Larnaca Airport, as well as the locations of several preserved and derelict aircraft spread around the island. Germany is the subject of this latest massive update and with it a brand new addition to the Spotting Downloads. In this Germany Download, there is an extra Point of Interest for all the smaller airfields marked '[airfield name] Entrance' - this is to ensure greater accuracy with your SatNav directions in finding these airfields. The 13 airports previously on this page have all been updated and I have added a further 84 (!!) airports, airfields, airbases, museums and preserved aircraft locations so no matter where in Germany you travel, there will be plenty of airfields nearby!
