  • F-BMCY Potez 840 fuselage is stored at house in North Roe off the A970 and can be easily seen and photographed from the road. It's at the end of a long private driveway but the owner is friendly if you knock on his door to talk to him about it

    SCATSTA AIRPORT

    Spotting Info
Between Trondavoe and Graven on the B9076 and signposted. You can drive round to the terminal but views aren't great and you may not be able to log any of the helicopters. The best views are from the B9076 that runs parallel with the runway but you can't stop on here so get what you can as you drive past - they're easily visible. Very quiet at the weekends, if you're after the helicopters, best to visit on weekdays and very early in the morning before they leave.

    SUMBURGH AIRPORT

    Spotting Info
At the southern tip of the Shetland Islands, alongside the A970. The A970 runs along the western and southern perimeter and provides views across the airport. Heading south on the A970, just as you pass the 09 threshold, turn left and follow to the end. You can park by the fence here for views across to the terminal. Turn left back onto the A970 and follow it round to the main airport entrance, keeping a good lookout on the left for any other aircraft parked out. Turn left into the main entrance - this approach road runs right round the small helicopter runway and has excellent views across to the ramp. A mix of helicopters and turbos, especially if the weather is good and you can check the Sumburgh Airport website for details of scheduled movements to time your visit.
