BALADO BRIDGE AIRFIELD - A/G 129.825

Spotting Info
Head west on the A91 from the M90 and it's on the left in less than a mile. Be aware that you will be crossing the ends of an active runway. Pegasus Flight Training, the microlight flying club that operate the airfield, are very friendly with no problems with hangar access and photos but please obtain permission beforehand. XM412 Jet Provost (coded "41" on nose, "49" on tail") is stored here and is easily seen on the drive round the old airfield to the club. There is a viewing area up at the tower, separating the public from the hangars and the flight line. Don't visit when the T in the Park festival is on. If you need any petrol, head east into Milnathort on the A91 and the garage is on the left, much cheaper than the motorway stations.

BLAIR ATHOLL AIRFIELD

Spotting Info
Heading north on the A9, leave at the first junction signposted to Blair Atholl B8079 and head that way. Once you've joined the B8079 heading north alongside the railway line, take the first right and follow the track between the houses. The hangar is on your right and you should be able to look the 3 residents. The runway is off to your left.

ERROL AIRFIELD

Spotting Info
Head south out of Grange towards Errol. Go over the level crossing and turn right at T-junction. Over the river and airfield is on left. The aircraft can be seen off the Inchture to Errol Road about a half mile to the east of Grange. XG882 Gannet can be seen by following the road towards Errol and looking back towards the farm buildings. You can ask the security guard to look at the Gannet and photograph it, they are usually very friendly. From standing by Gannet and looking straight ahead you can see an old low brick building on the other side of an acre, with the booms of XD403 Vampire marked as "XE897" sticking out.

PERTH AIRFIELD - TWR 119.8, APP 122.3

Spotting Info
Northeast of town on A94. Friendly airfield, ask at flying club, or the tower next to the big hangar for access - you're often given a tour. Then ask at the offices of the other hangars - maintenance hangars ask the engineers, they are friendly. ACS Hangar no problem on asking, have to sign in and out in the visitors book. Contact them in advance to ensure someone will be there to show you round. There's a lot of residents so it's well worth it. G-BCIE PA28 wreck is dumped around 100 yards beyond the main hangar and is marked in the Spotting in the UK download for Google Earth and SatNavs.

PORTMOAK AIRFIELD - A/G 129.975

Spotting Info
Come off the M90 at J5 and head east on the B9097 that runs just south of Loch Leven. At the end, turn left onto the B920 and the airfield is on your left after about a mile. Signed Scottish Gliding Centre. Friendly, ask for access though the club requires that you contact them in advance to arrange your visit, and sometimes even then access has known to be denied. There are hangars by the car park and hangars across the runway which you won't be allowed into if the runway is active for landing. The food in the clubhouse also comes recommended and cheap so make sure you stop in.

STRATHALLAN AIRFIELD - TWR 129.9

Spotting Info
Head north out of Auchterarder on B8062. After a couple of sharp bends, you will go over one bridge. Take the next left, just before Kinkell Bridge. Airfield is on the left. Should be signposted. Ask permission for access, usually ok.
