  • N116WG WG30 is at the Offshore Training Centre on Forties Road, in the northern part of Montrose, just up the road from the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre detailed below. The helicopter next to it is a training mock-up. They also have a helipad you should check on in case they have a visitor using it.




    ARBROATH AIRFIELD

    Head northwest out of Arbroath on the A933 and it's on the right. The gliding club are very friendly, but as it's on a military base, you'll have to arrange your visit to 662 VGS in advance so security know you're coming.

    DRUMSHADE AIRFIELD

    Spotting Info
    Head north through Glamis on A928, it's about 2 miles on the left and signposted. Go over Dean Water and take the second left. Follow the track to the end. Very friendly, ask for access. Glider BGA3509 is stored in an outbuilding.




    MONTROSE AIR STATION HERITAGE CENTRE

    Spotting Info
    The Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre is towards the north of Montrose town: the entrance is off the A92 and is signposted. WF825 Meteor guards the entrance with 3 more exhibits inside the main hangar, including Sea Vampire XA109. There were also some WG30 fuselages behind the Meteor which may have gone now. Opens Sundays 1200-1600 all year round, Wednesday-Saturday 1st April-30 September 1000-1600, an admission charge applies.
